Built by one person, in the open.
Riparia is the work of a single independent technologist. There is no team page to puff up — and that is intentional. The codebase, the design, the methodology and every line of writing on this site are attributable to one person who answers email.
Background
I have spent 15+ years in IT, mostly in enterprise architecture: ERP system design, cloud integrations, performance analysis, and identity infrastructure (SSL, SAML2 with principal propagation). The discipline that comes from shipping reliable enterprise software is what I bring to a citizen-facing product. The methodology page, the source citations, the formula versioning, the audit fields — those are not marketing decisions. They are how I have always built systems other people depend on.
Why Riparia exists
European agencies — WRI Aqueduct, Copernicus EDO, JRC EFAS, EEA WISE, Eurostat — already publish rich, well-documented water data. The problem is that none of it is reachable for a normal citizen, a small municipality or an independent surveyor. The science exists; the translation does not. Riparia takes that public data and turns it into one clean, sourced answer that anyone can read in five seconds.
How I work
Independently, transparently, in public. The methodology is published. Sources are cited inline. Formula versions are recorded with every report. There are no commercial relationships with insurers, banks, or estate agents — a deliberate choice that keeps the score honest. If something on this site looks wrong, write to me directly. I publish corrections.
Contact
For agencies, municipalities, EU project consortia or just a question: write directly. I read everything.
